Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Decisions..Decisions..FBody..Grand Prix...uhm???

i look at it this way sure 550-600 hp in a f body with a turbo v6 would be different and pretty badass a nicely built ls v8 can make that no turbo no nitrous no supercharger and thats what would be a hell of a lot more fun no drama just put gas in and drive it.

What year fbody? lt1 body style or ls body style? Also quite a few v6 fbodies had the 3.42:1 gears and second gear start for snow as an option. The gearing is pretty much the same gu3, gu5, gu7 I believe are the rpo codes, gu3 or maybe its gu2 is 2.73:1, gu5 is 3:23.1 and gu7 is 3.42:1 I am just going off memeory of the rpo codes I will find out for sure here in a few minutes.

Also it is a 4L80 not 4t80, just fyi. I would not put that behind a 6 cylinder unless you are at least making 700 bhp, a built 4l60e should be just fine and not too heavy for ya, you won't be making the amount of torque for the heavier components in the 4l80. Most LSX guys switch to 4l80e once they start getting into 370 ci plus on either a ton of spray, turbo, or supercharged since they make tons of torque.

I never recommend 6cylinder fbodies to build since it is a waste, you could have spent just as much swapping a 6.0 lq motor in it and building that and already have a better platform, GN's are a different story since you start off with a v6 but I know a few GN guys who say they would rather have swapped to an LSx based motor than go through the hassle of keeping up their V6, it is more work to maintain a 6 cylinder running 8s and 9s than it is for a v8, both require maintenance but the v6 tends to have more down time, just some food for thought.

I would also do this swap in a heartbeat if I found a cheap v6 f body, someone who already has a turbo Gp and some skills could build a nice turbo6 f body pretty cheaply.
Most don't understand this unless they already own/ have experience with a turbo 3.8

Your right, I misspoke its a 4L65, and currently I'm at 500whp ish, with the new heads and a cam the 4L80 will be a necessity...

If i didnt dd the gp or lived where there is no snow, i wouldnt of even thought about it. Fbody is better period, with the power your pushing and are def gonna try to go farther there is 1000x the aftermarket support in fbodys.

I am still going to say a 4l80 will be too much for a V6, not just the HP rating but also torque, you will be loosing more power through that trans than you will get back, a built 4l60e or th350 honestly is your best bet, but do what you want I have done enough with fbodies and know them quite well, I am just giving you some insight as the extra weight will add strain on the motor, it will have to work harder to get the power through that trans than a car with more torque. You may be making great power for a wbody but that is pretty standard for a lot of fbodies with 4l60/4l65e trans, which the 4l65 does not come in the fbodies it comes from the trucks or tbss and is a bit stronger.

Don't take offense to this I am just telling you straight facts from someone who has owned two fbodies from two generations and built several that are above 600 rwhp.

pretty sure his turbo 3800 is already making about 500 hp, so the parasitic drivetrain loss would be more, but the 4l80 will hold together longer without modification than a 4l60.

I still need to do some research but I'll be well over 600-700 by the end of summer in the GP so yeah power not an issue

winner winner chicken dinner. I would be all over that. who needs 4 gears anyway. less tuning with a turbo 400. I would be all over that cheap v6 f body.
