Deciding on paint job

So i just got a 97 grand prix gt and its nice fully loaded barely used and everything, but its an ugly color, its like teal and it kinda throws off the loos, i want to deff put a body kit on it but i also want to paint it, are there any cheap ways to get your car painted that wont look bad?

Dupli-Color :: Projects this is the only way to get a cheep paint job, it all lays in your hands, how much time you have to prep it, if there are no dents or rust it can be done even more easily. they have how to vids for every product they sell too.

Even if you do paint it and it looks good, you'll ruin it with that body kit you're thinking of putting on.

Pay for 5k to paint the car plus all the door jams under the hood bc you want a different color. If your going to do it do it right the first time.

Doing it yourself also cuts down in price, but you really have to know what you are doing. Or have a painter friend that can give you hints, and tips or ultimately do it for you. There are options to cheapen the price or your paint job, but you highly risk your gel coat failing in a year, and having the right mix of hardener not correct. There is more cons than pros about doing it yourself but it definitely is an option. If you need tips or hints let me know or PM me and give me your number, I have a lot of knowledge about the matter.

secondly...don't do a body kit and rice out your car. If anything do the Triple combo if you have money to throw at it. Cal Induction hood, Spoiler, and front air dam. That would make it "pop" very nicely.

you said it yourself - CHEAP
Cheap paint - gonna flake
Cheap quality - looks like poo
Cheap application - gonna be double poo

The short answer to your question is...No...don't even think about it lol. If you need a touch up, then that's ok and you can touch up troubled areas, but if you are looking to paint it another color you are looking at some serious money. I would end with a paint job anyways if you are thinking about modding it in any way, because modding = working on your car which has tendencies to scratch paint lol or put dits in it possibly. Just really think about this later on when you are done with the car.
