I have a 1997 GT, i'm debating on doing a top swap and rebuilt the bottom end, or just get a complete L67 and rebuilt that one top to bottom? any suggestions
The 4T60 isn't really weaker than the 4T65. It's a huge heat generator though. (no, I'm not a 60 fan)
If you top swap, tuning is the key to it holding up. Lots and lots of tuning. An L67 swap will be more lenient tune wise. The added power from the top swap is nice, but the tuning responsibility needs to be taken into account.
Keep in mind, IIRC early 97 GTs had the 4T60-E, later 97s had the 4T65-E which is what was used the rest of the years. Need to figure out what tranny you have...
