dashboard squeaks?

I took the panel off to service the stereo. when I put the panel back on, it squeaks around above the steering wheel, seems like its towards the left side near the vent closest to drivers side window.

it just squeaks now and its severely annoying. I had to pull the top of the panel away until the clips came out and the squeaking stopped but my dash has a big gap now.

it's the panel that has the vents attached to it, and covers the stereo, HVAC controls, around gauge cluster etc.

how can I stop this noise?

Take it off again and put it on and see if that fixes it. Maybe the way you put it back on you have it pinched in a weird way?

I've replaced the stuff that looks like weather stripping with actual weather stripping from Home Depot. It worked like a charm. Not sure on the Grand Prix but the regal has many spots on certain trim pieces that the strips have disintegrated

There should be a rubber piece that goes around the cutout for the steering wheel. Make sure that is there and intact.

I take that panel off to see? is it around the steering wheel column?

Yes, take it off. It's around the column. Basically looks like a piece of weather stripping. 2 days ago when taking mine off, it ripped a bit, so it's possible for it rip and if you don't notice it, it could be pushed out of the way and not sit properly.

the top part of the panel that goes around the gauge cluster is what squeaks. it's more closer to the vent near window. comes from that corner and I think there's a clip there. I pulled that top part away so it unclipped and stopped making noise

My bad, I thought it was lower. Maybe try some WD-40 or some type of lubricant on that specific clip? I'd try like a silicone paste or something.
