Dash lights go out..

I was wondering if somebody could help me figure out why my dash lights in my 01 GTP seem to just shut off. At first it only did it when I put my car in park after drivin for a short while, the dash lights would just cut off as soon as i put it in park. My HUD still stayed on and so did my factory boost gauge in the dash. Even the stereo's lights turn off. Its done this for awhile now, but because it doesn't affect my drivin, I didn't really think much of it. Recently though they have been turnin off while I am in the middle of drivin. I have checked the fuses, and they are all good. Is there some kind of wiring problem with these cars that I need to know about, or am I the only one this has happened too?
 


when i got my car the dash lights didnt work, however everythign not affected by the dimmer on the headlight switch did (HUD). instruments all still worked, they just werent lit up.

i started to pull the dash apart because i also checked all the fuses and whatnot, and the harness to the dash way only pushed halfway into the plug! plugged it in and everything was perfect! (except i found out i had a bunch of burned out bulbs in the HVAC)
