Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

You could always stick with halogens. I ended up going back to halogens after I sold my spyder projectors. I use the philips x-treme power with a relay harness. Seems to work just fine. Plus my aftermarket fogs also help in very dark areas.

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT - New Pictures 9-10

Well, I detailed the interior for the 2nd time this week because when I did it the first time, the product I used on the leather smelled like a$$. It got worse towards the end of the week and smelled like something died. So I went crazy with armor all leather care and febreze in hopes that it would get rid of the odor.

And I sanded/polished the outer rim of the exhaust tips.
I really like the way it turned out :)

And next week, after car payment is sucked out...I will be ordering HIDs :)

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

I gotz a question..
I'm ordering my HID kit now and I got to adding it to the cart and see the optional relay harness. I'm only getting the low beam, is this harness necessary?

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

It is up to you...when the bulbs flicker you can just flick the high beams on and off a couple times and then they work.

I don't have the relay on either of my cars...or Kim's G5...never had any issues really other than my losing my fog light ballast at 70 mph the other day in the blue car...but that was my biz.

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

So, I got to thinking today of other exterior mods to do that are cheaper. And the front grills came to mind. What if I painted them to match the lower fascias and then went over them with a light coat of glitter? I saw the sparkly stuff at O'Reillys last time I was in and it sparked my interest. And maybe a matte finish clear over the top?
Think that would look stupid?
I can always leave the sparkles out of the equation too.

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

sounds like it has the potential to come out looking... umm...cute. but if you over due the glitter it could look horrible. if you used the same process on the fascias it all could really pop.

i cant believe im talking about glitter. see disclaimer*

*no homo

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

Im really considering trying it on the grills just to see. I can always repaint if it looks awful. And I like the idea of doing it to the fascias...but I have the rear inlays on so I'd either have to paint over those, or take them off and do new (that means I could change my color theme too...hmmm :th_lightbulb:)

What color is going to match the fascias best? Its that darker gray color. A smoke gray?
I haven't looked to see if they have anything that looks like it'll match so I guess I'll know when I get to the store.

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

tips turned out good! uhh glitter eh? well ya just repaint em if it doesn't look right. like the pinstriping around your plate too, never noticed it before

Thanks! It was a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be.
It had pin striping all around but when I took it off, I left that and the one around the front plate on because it was still in decent shape and I liked it.

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

Well, I tried finding a gray that matched the fascias but I struck out for a perfect match. Lots of close ones but they were a tick to dark and I didn't wanna chance it even tho there is a 2' distance between the lower and the grills.
Anywho, I just sprayed the glitter over the stock black grill just to see and it actually looks neat. Its more of a metallic and not so much "glitter chunks".
It looks a lot better in person. I tried using the flash to get it to show up a little better.

You can't really tell over the black, so I'm wondering if it would even show up over the top of the lighter color gray. I'm thinking maybe just because, paint over the stock existing fascias? Idk, its different and looks neat but really, who is gonna notice? lol

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

I do like it. Its different, yet subtle and not over done looking.
It was hard to paint because you couldn't see it going on.
That is just one medium coat.
I just can't decide if I wanna try and color match the grills to the fascia or just leave them the black they are.
I don't really wanna repaint fascias.
However, if I do...I will most likely change color scheme from red to something else.
Maybe purple? Or maybe I will just change my color scheme anyways...

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

if you super screw up the facias. an auto paint supply store can sell you the correct factory color in a spray bomb
