Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

I need help pretty pretty pretty please :)
I'm seriously looking into HID cuz my headlights SUCK at night.
So...whats better...just having ONLY the lo beam OR HID lo and regular hi OR both lo/high on HID?
Please tell me because I'm clueless.

Here is what I'm looking at, I just don't know which one:
Search Results : VVME.COM, Tattoo Kit, Xenon HID Kit, DVR Surveillance System & Projector

I'm thinking I wanna do a kit that does both beams in HID, or are the low beams in HID only good enough?

And I'm thinking 4300k because my fogs are the H1 bulb, so I don't wanna have any trace of blue, pure white and bright as possible.

Please excuse my blonde-ness and correct me if I am totally off my rocker.

And one more thing....I know that the -1 means low beam only... -2 means hid low beam and halogen high....what does -3 mean??

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

just lows will be just fine..
might i add,
on a white car, 8k might look better then 6k because of the light color, the white light and the white car can clash and look "off" with the 8k's with the light blue tint the light has and the white car can look better because of the color combo,,
now thats just my .2cents.. i know other ppl feel differnt,, but that just my reason why i have 8 and 10k's on my white car

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

Now that you revived this thread have you thought about fixing the parts that commonly break like the lower intake manifold gasket, coolant elbows, ignition switch, trailing arms (my neighbor had one break on his GP), sway bars (road salt sucks), etc? I was always more of a person who enjoys cleaning and detailing engine and suspension parts more than the exterior.

To answer your question, I'll say anything but the high HID. HIDs can't light up fast enough which makes it useless if you're the type to flick the high beam. If i'm not mistaken you may need to delete the headlight flash if you have an alarm.

BTW nice exterior and your boyfriend is very lucky. None of my female friends will even wash their car except drive in the rain.

It's my personal "members ride" thread to revive all I want.
For your information the LIM and elbows have already been replaced and suspension parts are fine. And I've already had the ignition switch fixed.

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

Car looks great! Only thing I could suggest maybe some clear corners, they really clean the front end up nicely. I need to find me a girl that's into cars and wouldn't mind washing and waxing mine haha! Keep up the good work.

Haha. I wanted clear corners originally, but I was in a bind for money and needed new headlights bad..and the stockers were about 40 cheaper than clear at the time. So I am thinking about baking my original corners since they are ok and taking out that orange piece. But I'd like to have a clear reflector to put back in there. Anywho, clears are on my list but not majorly important at the moment.
Thanks!

My boyfriend did the radio.
I'm pretty sure you have to take the front dash part off to get to the radio.

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

I know it's a little late but if you don't need to pass any sort of inspection then you will be ok with the low only option. Just as an FYI, the high beam light on the dash will be dimly lit since there is not ank type of load on it. There bi-xenon kit looks like some of the other kits that I have seen were they act like when you are switching between high and low with halogens. I have had 4300K, 5000K and 6000K. My preference is 5000K. Also get the digital slim ballasts.

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

I'm lucky, we do not have inspections in Indiana.
I was wondering what the difference is between the slim and regular.
Ballast is just smaller I'm assuming?

Re: 1999 Grand Prix GT

yep thats exaclty it

slim is much easier to work with jsut because its smaller and can fit inplaces to be mounted better
