• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Danielle's 99 GT :)

The dealer sticker has only been on it for 4 yrs, so crossing fingers. Then its at least the Pontiac coming off and maybe the G6 and GT depending on what the bf approves of.
It's the second time using the pc, shouldn't be to bad. Have more time now so hoping it goes well.

And I can see gold hiding well for you.

The gold paint on your 97 will likely not have faded enough to notice, but it is possible. My silvermist shows no signs on any of the emblems I took off. Try it and hope for the best.

Thats what I thought but really know nothing about doing this. As long as I can get it close, it will be OK for me. Black does seem like a pain in the butt, so yeah, good luck.

Got the G6 detailed this weekend.

Here are some pictures of the removal of badges and dealer sticker.
I know the pictures aren't the best due to the crazy orange peel on the trunk deck, but you seriously can't see where the glue was. Cleaned up super well.

Enjoy:

Still no where near perfect enough, but I need to get some better cutting pads and will go at it again come spring time.
Until then, the G is done except for a few more apps of wax before winter.

Holy shiny...Can I shave by looking at the car?? :D
If you look in any panel except the trunk deck lid, yes you can use it as a mirror! lol

I spy with my little eyes some orange peel :)
Yes, the trunk deck is awful! It was that way when I bought it. No idea what happened.
The bottom of the doors are that way too. The only part that's been repainted since I bought it was the roof, and its smooth as glass, no peel what so ever.
The trunk and doors are nowhere near factory quality.

Looking good!

Lol I like how your bf drives a girls car and you seem to know more about cars than he does.

The G6 was mine before it ate every penny out of my bank account and I bought the GP.
He saved my arse by buying it from me, so I'm grateful.
And he know's about cars, just doesn't have time to help me all the time due to his work schedule.
I always sweet talk him into doing the brakes, and he put my exhaust tips on for me.
He had a 02 Bonneville SSEI that he rebuilt, I miss that car :(

What did you use?

I have a PC7424XP with lake county pads and I use Poorboys World Products.
This session this weekend was 4-5 passes of Professional Polish, then EX-P, then Black Hole and 3 layers of Meqiuars Yellow #26.

This is my thoughts on detailing, I have never had luck with the walmart/auto store compounds and such. So yes I spent some good money, but the results are soooo worth it in my eyes. So in essence, if your going to do it...might as well do it right :)
Also, being able to do this on my own to cars in the family is worth ever penny. I haven't made any money off the PC, don't know if I ever will. But for personal use even, it is worth it. Makes waxing a breeze. I put wax on the whole car and get all the way around and back to the start and its just now ready to wipe off. Saves your arms/elbows for sure.
It has taken me A LOT of learning to get where I am. I asked a bunch of questions and still don't know what the heck I'm doing. But just like this forum, there are forums for detailing out there, and those guys are nuts! They have helped me beyond what I thought was possible.
It is an addiction tho, once you get started...its a never ending dark and bottomless pit. Kinda like the mod bug.
I can no longer look at a cars finish the same now. I see swirls and hours of endless polishing.

she tells the truth lol

once you do that first 2x2 area and wipe it off, you have to keep going. my first pass was with turtle wax liquid compound and just that made the car shine like never before. the wax was just icing on the cake.

if you ever tried to compound your car by hand, just stop, you doing nothing as you already figured out lol

I had no side effects from removing mine. After i got the glue off, I washed it really good and put a few layers of wax on. You'll be fine, just take your time. I used a rubber wheel eraser on a drill and it made the glue come off super easy. Idk if the white hides better, maybe on a darker color it would show a little but maybe one of those things that you would really have to know where to look.
I will be doing a black car this weekend, but its only 7 yrs old so ill see about fade marks on it.
I also took the pin stripes off, those I can still see if I look for them. But I haven't really polished the lines yet to blend it in.

Has anyone every laid a rag soaked in vinegar over the decal overnight to help lift the glue? I heard this once, but never tried it.

Nice look'n ride!
