Dadillac in the house

Hello all just wanted to say hello and have a few questions. First off I just purchased a Grand Prix for my son who is 17. The car is a 2004 GT1. It came wirh 142, 000 miles. But I can tell you that this car was well maintained. It runs, rides and drives like a new car. Simply amazing for a nine year old car with that many miles. My son love
Now to question number one. The DIC says the car has a Tire Inflation Monitor System. Am I to assume that the word inflation means that there are no sensors in the wheels and that the system works off of the ABS?

Question number two. Does the Grand Prix suffer from the same no start issue due to the security system that other GM cars, such as the Impala, have? If so what is a remedy?

Question number three. The buttons on the factory head unit seem worn down and the backlighting shows through. Does anyone know where replacements can be had. I want to avoid a trip to th3 dealer to program a new unit. Plus is the head unit part of the security system? As in if I remove it will the car not start?

Thanks in advance and looking forward to spending some quality time here

One more question sorry. Are the power window switches supposed to be lit? None of them on this car are and I think that is quite strange.

#1: The TPS is measured through the hubs, so it will only detect if a tire is low, but not tell you which one it is. To be honest, I prefer this system to the other system where the sensors are mounted in the wheel, costs too much money.

#2: I haven't seen any GP's with this issue before, I forget the exact name of the security system we run (I'll know it as soon as I post), but it didn't make its way into Impala's until the later years. But you can do a security relearn in case it does happen. It takes about 45 minutes
1. Turn key to start, see security light, move key to on. Wait atleast 15 minutes. Turn to off. Wait 10 seconds.
2. Turn key to start, see security light, move key to on. Wait atleast 15 minutes. Turn to off. Wait 10 seconds. (second time)
3. Turn key to start, see security light, move key to on. Wait atleast 15 minutes. Turn to off. Wait 10 seconds. (third time)

#3: Check ebay for another stereo to replace the whole stereo. When doing a swap with the factory stereo there is code for the theftlock system that the dealer has to remarry to car. I'd suggest an aftermarket route anyways for the added features of an ipod and such. Units with a double din screen are getting extremely cheap and easy to install.

Yes they should be lit on the top of the tap in red. I think they are LED bulbs, I've never messed with them as I've never had mine go out
