D/S Halfshaft not snapping in

Hi everyone, I have a 2000 Regal GS. I replaced the driver's side halfshaft today, but it is not clipping in to the trans case, and I am afraid to beat on it to try to get it to clip in. The c clip is still in place on the male part of the trans. Any advice?

Where did you get the axle? Is it seating in the case at all? It takes some work to get in, don't try and smash ot with a hammer. Just get her seated an some quick pressure should seat it.

Got it from advance auto. Its for a non supercharged application but the I've read numerous times that it doesn't matter for the driver's side they're all the same. I believe its going in all the way but I can pull it back out by hand.

It's a straight on quick jab that'll compress the c clip. It's a quick jab though. Too much pressure on the clip and it stays put vs compressing to let the cv go over and clip in.

It's not the same. Well Atleast in my experience it Wasnt. I believe the threaded part of the non-supercharged axle is a tad bit smaller.

I believe we answered ur question...
If its seating, but than can be pulled out, wiggle it around Alittle while its seated, turn it, try to get that c clip out of the groove so it seats in the axle.

Doesn't seem like its seating properly, I guess I'll just try to play with it some more tomorrow. Seems like it wants to catch, but I can easily pull it back out.

Do NOT SPREAD THAT CLIP. You will most certainly never be able up remove that axle if you do.

Figures, the dude is a moron, I was surprised that he had some advice that seemed reasonable.

He was also telling me just to take the clips off and run them with no clips.

Guess that should've been my sign.
