CV Joints

Want to start off by saying that I really appreciate everybody's wisdom on this site. It's amazing that I can just go on here for help. So my CV Joints are bad, probably because I drive like a bat outta hell. I have 20" rims so that doesn't make it any better. I notice there is grease all over the place on both sides of the front end and I feel vibrations and noises coming from the front. Just wondering if I can purchase aftermarket CV Joints made for tough usage. I plan on rebuilding this car & racing it so I need some pretty heavy duty stuff. Thanks.

Usually the problem with most aftermarket axles out there is they over pack them with grease, eventually leading to grease all up in your sub frame.

Get an axle boot band tool, repack the bearing with just enough grease to lube it and re-seal the axle band. If you over do it, the band may pop off again.

Those are the ones (wbody)! ZZP sells so called heavy duty ones, but dont now for a fact if and or how they are different, lol.

The boot kit cost a little over half the cost for new axle, plus you gotta get, rent or borrow the correct TOOL for clamping the band when done. Plus, if dirt contaminated the grease inside the boot, forget it, just get a new one, IMHO.

Those 20" rims with their added weight and aggressive driving will definitely shorten the life expectancy of the axels... Lol!
