• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

CV Axles

For the price, I have to say no. You can get duralast lifetime axles from autozone for around $70 each.

Yeah, you may need to replace them (under warrnaty) slightly more frequently than ZZP S2, but for the savings, it's worth it in my opinion.

What's the expected life on them? Pretty sure my axles have almost 100k on them.

I've seen axles go 200K+ w/o issues and I've seen them go 20K. All depends on how much error was built into that axle.

Factory axles do seem to fare better than replacements etc. I know a bunch of guys were going JY shopping for stockers when they would have issues.

My stock axles have a little play in them, wondering how hard it is to rebuild them. I drive hard, don't want a poor quality axle to break and/or destroy my transmission. Hopefully someone will post where I can get a good factory replacement.

I still have my original axels from my car. I replaced both at about 140k miles (boots torn). At the time it was just easier and faster to just install replacements. What I did in my spare time was order new boot kits from RA (came with boots, geese, clamps) and disassembled, cleaned and inspected all the balls and bearings and surfaces, and as it turns out there was very little wear on them, with new grease and boots they are still nice and tight/stiff. So now I have an extra set of spare axels should I ever need them.
It is not that hard to clean and re-grease/re/boot, just make sure to keep the parts together and make it hospital clean before it all goes back together. I think I used a HAYNES manual for reference and the disassemble and reassemble.

Not sure how people destroy axle's so much I really think it's mostly from the motor mounts going out screwing up the geometry and binding the axle's I'd make sure to check and replace the garbage motor mounts these cars come with if you are having any axle problems.

Zzp stage 1 CV= auto zone
Zzp stage 2 CV = orielly
Stock is better than both according to a very reliable source
