CV Axle questions

How the #$@* do you get a crow bar in to get the axle out of the transmission. I can't find any leverage points...:th_angry2: Where exactly is the seal? Is it the lighter colored metal just inside the outer transmission cover?

Got the hub end axle out fine without doing the ball joint. Just can't get the transmission side.

I used a chain, about 10ft long with not so big links, not so small either, and was able to get it wrapped around near the end that goes inside the transmission. I wrapped the other end around a crow bar and gave it a good tug.
If you try to wrap it close to the hub, it will just pull the shaft out of the axle housing and you'll have a stub sticking out of the transmission, along with maybe some axle grease, if it still had some.

LOL no worries my friend :) I had to bust your chops for it ;)

As for the cracked sway bar, mine on my old GP GT cracked and I replaced it with the GMPP package. Its gone up in price since I got my last setup, back in 2004/5 it was only $150 shipped. Now the kit from GMPP is running around $175+shipping.

Here is a link to them. Personally I would avoid Wbody.

GMPP was what I was leaning towards anyway. Thanks for the link. I guess I'll have another strut bar hanging around when I buy that package since I already have those...

Are those solid or hollow sways? Solid right?

Well the rear trailing arms are solid. But the sway bars are still hallow, but MUCH MUCH thicker than stock.

Here are some pictures of mine when I replaced my cracked front sway bar.

Here it is installed. Just be mindful of the DP and the sway bar not banging into each other. If it looks like its gonna close? It is best to "flip" the swap bar so the bend is away from the DP. The engine moves quite a bit and the DP flexes and if the sway bar is to close it will knock and you will hear it. Just thought I would let you ahead of time to look out for it :)

Thanks for the pics. I will definitely have to flip it. Not much room in there now. The last thing I need is more knock. This car is a knock monster as is and I still have the stock pulley on :(

Tune is the next thing on the list. Just have to find someone around here who knows what they're doing. Jeff Creech down at CAM has supposedly done GTPs before. Have to check more on that. He'll be putting my cam in my other car so I will get to feel out the situation when I am down there.

Nothing else close to Roanoke as far as tuners go though, which sucks.
