Cut off tool or sawzall???

I work on mostly family cars, so I don't need something too expensive. I'm looking to buy something that I can cut off tie rods, stabilizer pins, bolts etc when they will not come out. Whats the best thing to get? What brands? I know Harbor Freight sales this type of stuff.... I'll probably be using it only a few times a year.

I would prefer a cut off tool if you are worknig under and in tight spots because its way smaller.

A sawzall is great if you are cutting stuff with alot of room.

just get like a 4.5" angle grinder with a cut off wheel...and for the tight spots use a die grinder with the real small cut off wheels.

You are going to fight a long time if you are cutting a tie rod. They are hardened and won't cut easily with a cut off wheel or sawzall.

HF's earthquake brand is pretty nice. I have the air ratchet and love it. Ton's of power. I have one of their cheap cutoff wheels as well. Thing there is it'll use a ton of air and stop pretty easily.

My sawzall cuts them easy

My sawzall cuts them easy

cut the stud, not the joint. sawzall works fine.

saw my bro use a skill saw with a metal blade. complete redneck way to do it. i laughed. he was cutting the joint. i asked him why not cut the stud and he was like, "i hadn't thought of that:th_thumbsup-wink:"
