Custom Paint Job - Done by Me

Yeah I did that to mine about 2 years ago had the same green with the silver front end painted it all matt black with a semi gloss I got a lot of compliments on it and no 1 believes I did it myself with cans also added a red stripe on my fender was thing of painting it gray or silver but that maybe this summer's project

I used a spray gun, not rattle cans. Imo it is much faster (98764%) and it looks nicer lol. And probably around the same price lol

And thanks for the compliments guys, I appreciate it

NIce paint job, and great idea on the paint booth! I love painting cars, or rather used love painting cars. I had a lot of fun doing body work and paint, cut and buff, polish, on the cars I did in the past, and it IS a LOT of work, but very rewarding also, sometimes the reward of being finished is all you have to keep yourself motivated through the bondo dust, sanding, hours and hours of block sanding, and preperation. I never did paint a car flat black, or any flat color other than the primer/surfacer, but my last paint job was on my 86' MOnte SS, and it was BLACK, (gloss).
Your car looks great!

Thanks and I chose a flat color for multiple reasons besides trying to be unique and one of those was that it is harder to see the imperfections in a flat color than a high gloss color. I'm sure when you painted your ss, that it was much more difficult than this. Shiny cars show every little scratch and dent lol

Damn sweet innovation, the car looks great

How do you keep it clean with out getting shine streaks or spots from the rub

Are you talking about when I painted it? Or regular maintenance to keep it clean? The great thing about a flat color is that you never have to wax it or use expensive car soap, dawn dish soap works just fine and takes all the bugs off too lol. I do NOT miss waxing my car weekly or monthly lol

weekly waxing? my car gets the PC once a year, compounded and waxed, washed weekly as weather permits with cheap store brand car wash soap.

holds up well all year long. towards the end of the year i start to see swirl marks coming back.

Yeah I meant keeping it evenly matte, without adding imperfections, effectively polishing it,just by drying it.....Guess we could go on and on about this....

I guess I just over-did my car lol. I really liked the shiny. Plus living in the country make it harder to maintain shine. Gravel roads, corn dust, etc...

I think don't think I understand the question lol. The paint is a Matte Black - the way the paint looks is the way it was painted on. After I wash my car I be sure to use a microfiber towel to get rid of all the swirl spots and water spots (I used to use a chamois but I found this way works better)

Yeah 60 bucks for now and it still looks great for being cans just did black for now wanting to.get the gun and other thing to use but gotta wait for some money to come in

I believe this is the gun I used - Industrial Paint Spray Gun It's only $20

The reviews say it is only a one-time use gun, but I used it over the summer and it is still good now. I guess they just did not understand that you have to thoroughly clean it after every use.

I want to get a gun to use for other projects too so going.to save up the Christmas mola and maybe get some new toys I mean tools lol

Noope... it came out orange peeled as hell...Sam with my door...soooo it will be going to a body shop

The orange peel is from how you sprayed it. It's expected you aren't familiar with painting cause it was your first time. All you need to do is wet sand and then buff. The flex additive helps the bumper from rock chips and helps the paint stick a little better.

Couple dents still in the driver's quarter? Also you didn't remove the doors/trunk to get the jambs, nor did you take off the moldings? Don't get me wrong, you did a good job painting it, but man- if you're going to do it, do it right the first time. Even if it did cost $150.

what do you mean how i sprayed it? i wet sanded it but it seems like it took off alot of the paint i just sprayed on it.... and then the color looked dull even with the clear on it. to confusing for me, i ll stick to fixing the cars

All the jams are dark green, you can't tell they aren't black unless you are looking at them and I planned on rattle canning them black as well.

Well that's good, that would bug the hell out of me otherwise lol. Good job even though I'm not a fan of flat colors. I'd love to take on a project like that since I know how to do the body work, just never painted with a paint gun.
