custom in-dash kit question

ive seen ppl with custom in-dash kits that has grand prix on it. it looks awesome and i would love to get one for mine. does anyone know where i can buy one from or is someone maybe selling a used one? Thanks!

Yea dude ive got the red Grand Prix GT humount, you can actually run a switch in your dash to turn it on and off, its not going to sit right until you "modify" the slot a bit though, and by modify i mean ull have to break off the piece of plastic behind the stereo. Otherwise just wire it into the illumination wire on the stock harness and your good to go, if i remember right it was the orange wire but i could be wrong since its been about 6 months since ive seen my harness.

i had a brushed aluminum one in my gp and loved it, but i have no idea what death is talking about with the trimming of the plastic behind the slot...mine fit perfect.

doesnt matter. i wont want the switch i'll just hook it up so its on all the time. i saw the picture of the brushed ones and they do look sick. i think i'm gonna stick with the black tho cuz it'll match the interior better.

On grand prixs and most w body vehicles you usually can't run a flush-mount stereo install kit because of the rear bracket where the peg on the factory head-unit sits. Its just cheap plastic you can break off. Thats because a standard single DIN headunit will usually be to long to fit into the slot. It's because of this that the install kits you find for the grand prix use plastic shells that stick out about an inch to fit the length. In my case because the aluminum heat sink on the x994 stuck out to far I had to break it off.

Yea the switch I had leftover from my iSimple kit (which turned out to be crap by the way, what a waist of 50 bucks...) So I had to make some use of it, otherwise I'd have been stuck with a useless switch in my center console or a hole. So I used the switch for that.
As for the black vs brushed, black matches my interior quite nicely and I think you'll be impressed with the fit and finish of it. The brushed aluminum looks very nice, however it looks much better in all black interiors such as my friends trans am than the charcoal or tan of the GP's.
