• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Custom Headlights (How to)

I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY OF YOUR MISTAKES THIS IS AT YOUR OWN RISK

  1. Pre-heat oven to 200 degrees
  2. Take all rubber, headlights, wires off of headlight.
  3. Put headlights on a cookies tray that is upside down in the oven
  4. Bake for a bout 15-20 Minutes. Don't be afraid it will not wreck or warp your headlights
  5. You will know when they are warm enough to take them apart.
  6. Use to screwdrivers to pry the lense off the headlight. BE CAREFUL NOT TO SCRATCH.
  7. Repeat for second headlight.
  8. You will want to sand the black plastic insert so the paint has something to bons to. You will also want to use a plastic bonding primer. (I did not do anything of this due to the fact i had my body shop do it and they had special stuff lol :th_nanana:)
  9. You can get your paint that matches your body from any GM dealer. ( I work at one so if u need the paint code i can get you it at no cost)
  10. The orange corners you can tint if you would like with VHT Nightshade. I tinted mine pretty dark but looks amazing! After they set up a little bit throw them in the oven at 170 to cure tha paint and bake it on for about 5 min.
  11. Clean off the old adhesive, you dont need to take it all off just cut it down so the new stuff can adhear. clean the areas where the adhesive will come in contact with, with rubbing alchool.
  12. Make sure your headlights are clean of all finger prints on the inside.
  13. I used urathane adhesive (like they use on windsheilds) to reseal the headlight. I let that sit overnight with some sort of clamps to keep pressure on it.
  14. Put all the accesories back on the headlight, and reinstall on your car
  15. Sit back and enjoy a custom look on your car

and to help before damage occurs. do not bake for 20 mins, all you need to do is preheat to 250 and and when the light goes off(oven gets to temp) turn the oven off and then place lights in the oven for 5 mins. the uv coating will come off if you leave them in the oven with the heat element going. and the sealant can be reused or you'll have to get some taillight buthyl from the nissan dealership(its cheap and you can do a few cars with it) ill post pn if i find it.......

I'll take up issue with step 5... and maybe 3

5: I will know when they're warm enough? How will I know? Touch, smell, taste, clairvoyance?

3: Why does the cookies tray have to be upside down?

Also, I'd say fix the wrong words so you sound smart. You are giving instructions on how to modify a fairly expensive part; hard to trust instructions if you don't sound smart. Ex: to=two, bons=bond, tha=the, adhear=adhere...

Touch and if the glue is loose enough to get the lens off, and cookie sheet if it has lips so it would be flat. And sorry somtimes i cant type. And i didnt have any problems with the temp being at 200 with constant heat.
