custom camaro ss style hood scoop

i thought maybe this was your ride marshal. would the fiberglass conform to the hood ?

i think it's slightly different then the one you used , the front is open. yours has a lip in front

That one is a little different, when i re do mine im either going to do it with fiberglass or plaster. I would recommend the same to you, I'm not sure about the cracking issue

I have had limited success heating and bending fiberglass but it can help a scoop fit. It wants to creep back when it gets hot and cold again, though.

Here is the only product I am aware of that is technically approved for attaching SMC/FRP to metal. It works as intended when used properly but is not intended for use in the hood scoop scenario. It worked as well as can be expected, for me. Hopefully its a helpful tip.

One thing I just remembered was that the scoop I installed had to be cut down in the front because it was too long. in my case the flimsiness of the scoop actually aided in the installation. the scoop you posted earlier looks shorter so it may not need to conform as much.

do you plan on just glueing the scoop on and painting the hood?

i don't have a plan yet , because i don't know jack sh*t about body work...lol
i wouldn't want to see the border edges (offset) of the scoop if thats what your asking. they sell 2 sizes of that scoop. the one is 44L x 23W , the mini version is 30L x 18w

I would suggest getting the hood scoop you like the best, and then taking it and the car to a good body shop. That's what I did, they asked me if the coating they used was ok, and initially I thought it would be, but I don't like it anymore. Just tell them to use fiberglass or plaster to blend in the edges, and/or coat the whole scoop. its more work, but it will pay off in quality. another tip is to use a tape measure to get a general idea of how long the scoop will be on your hood.

Thank you. Would it be a bad idea to order a older style hood like the 03 body? I have seen them have a cowl hood which looked really good for that body

it would be too much work to adapt a 97-03 hood to use on an 04+ car. if that isn't what you mean, I'm not sure what you mean.
