Cruise & Horn not working

It's been a bit, could not get my 98 GTP 5th cylinder to work, so went out and bought a 97 GTP coup. How it passed safety is beyond me, but alas I guess mechanics have weaknesses too when over worked and underpaid huh?

Anyways, This coup I have is a 97 GTP OEM, yesterday is my 3rd day with it on the road, wife and I are getting ready for a road trip from here in Brantford, going to zip er over to New York and then back north to Alexandria to check out the Heart Island, being that today is our 31st together.

I do not have horn or cruise control working, have done some searching on this site and really have not learned a lot, except for 3rd brake light may be a prob for cruise, except mine works. Read about and seen writing about a relay, but no locaton for it, so I'm asking... where is the cruise control relay, and the horn relay? If the horn is bad, is there a quick way to test it with a ohm meter?

Just asking, if You are able to help, please do :th_thumb-up:

does the cruise light come on? maybe the cable broke off the TB?

the horn you can run a wire from the battery to it, if it beeps the horn its self works. check for a bad fuse, under the hood, and in the car.

my friends truck, the horn would work when it wanted to, so i took the air bag off, and cleaned the wire for the horn where it gets inserted into the column. that fixed it up perfectly.

I will check for the cable off the TB... no there is no light stating that the cruise is on... I don't think it has one though.
As for the horn, I'm in the process of doing the direct battery test, after my break :) Thanks Scotty

you can also try unplugging the cruise module, and plug it back in a few times. dab of di electrical grease cant hurt either. there should be a fuse or relay for it. either under the hood or in the car.

then theres the off chance the multi switch that controls the cruise is not working.

Unplugged the module, cleaned the contacts and used a wee bit of grease... works :)
Now the horn, no luck there, works direct from battery, guess I have to run a wire and a new push button on the dash for my horn to work ... I guess.
Notice my "oil level low" light on, but she's full of oil, any body know the magic to turn it off?
Thanks guys

Chuck

my guess is the fuse is ok?

if so, take the air bag off, the horn wire maybe popped out, its like 1/2 a inline fuse, the old push in and turn with a glass bar fuse deal.

this vid shows the workings of the clips that hold the airbag on. its the same for a GP, there are 4 holes in the plastic behind the wheel, no need to remove any of it. stick a small screw driver or bent driver like he shows, in one hole, pull on the corner, when it pops, hold it out, repeat for the next one on the same side, then do the other side, the air bag is plugged in, and one wire for the horn. i can have mine off in less then 5 minutes these days. been under there many times so far.

Thanks Scotty ... "done deal" all works, would of thanked Ya earlier, just that the wife and I were tripp'n through NY state for the past 3-4 days :)
