Oh trust me, you havent seen the size of my turbo![]()
Yea i just want the car to be quiet. Im going to a stock catback. It will be turbo to 3" dp to 3" electric cutout to catback. Ill open the cutout when i want to take down a cobra.
oh yeah you're running a gt45
I dont know man, the specs on this thing are BIG. It has a 68mm inducer...
Honestly, it looks just like any other turbo that ive seen. This isnt my first turbo car, its just how you treat them, oil changes, etc. Im gonna take it apart and clean it out when i ceramic coat and powdercoat it. Ive heard that they can have some metal shavings in them, IDK. I got the turbo and front mount for $270 brand new local pick up off ebaycant beat that!
Well this turbo is brand new and has side to side shaft play, its normal. If there was no play, there would be no oil clearance, that would be bad. My new garrett turbo i had for my dodge daytona had shaft play out of the box, completely normal. It has no front to back shaft play, thats what you want. Its not a severe amount, just the right amount for the size turbo. The shaft literally just rides on a oil film, just like other friction bearings in the motor, i.e. rods, mains, cam bearings. Lol, sorry i know you know all this just like to talk.
Lol, i dont know. This one is says its 3.5" but when actually measured its 3.25". Im gonna get a 3.25" v band flange and weld a 3" pipe to it, it will be fine im sure. Yea i know what you mean about too much shaft play, when the turbine hits the compressor housing, thats a little too much!! lol. Idk, time will tell but as you said before, you can literally buy 5 of the ebay ones to 1 brand name one. When it comes down to it though, turbos dont last as long as the m90, but you would be crazy to think it could. It has much harder environment to live in with the hot exhaust and other things. Im hoping that because this is a large turbo that at 18 psi it will be barely working hard, extending its life.
