• The site migration is complete! Hopefully everything transferred properly from the multiple decades old software we were using before. If you notice any issues please let me know, thanks! Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Crazy Situation we've never seen before....

My existing lug nuts are able to torque to specs and my wheel is not loose. Today I'll replace my old existing lug nuts and see if that helps. And bluegtp91, where I live, we dodge bullets every other day but I'm more concerned with this fricking clunk.....lol

Its not your lug nuts or your lugs. There is supposed to be a little bit of play when the wheel is not on there. How many times do you have to be told that? You are just throwing money at it hoping something fixes it. You need a PROPER diagnosis by someone who knows what they are doing.

Soooo, starting the car caused a sound from the lugnuts??..............interesting

Makes sense to me :dunce:

This is the exact reason I said it sounds like motor mounts. I once saw a car with mounts so bad that the engine hit the hood when they took it out of park.

Yeah, that was my first thought as well. Then everybody jumped on the lug nut train and rode the hell out of it. Lol

How many TIMES do I need to tell YOU stealthee my mounts are good. If you would actually pay attention and actually READ my original post, you'll see that. My front suspension has been checked and everything is tight. Today. I replaced a bad lug nut and the problem has been resolved. It's been cold, I don't have a garage. However, today it warmed up a bit so I could inspect everything in better detail. Somehow, Somewhere some d-head installed the wrong lug nut and I have a feeling it's when I had my tires rotated. I'll be talking to them tomorrow. I do not appreciate being disrespected. Your advice or lack of it was no good for SURE.

Your diagnosis and description show you obivously have no clue what you are doing, it shows your total lack of knowledge. There is ABOSLUTELY no way a loose lug nut would cause a noise when you shifted the car out of gear which is why we ALL leaned against that. I have vast amounts of knowledge from actually working on cars myself so your petty little insults mean nothing to me.

All I know is my noise and problem has been resolved and your "vast" knowledge did not help here... The last thing we need on here is an impatient mouthy member as yourself. Happy new year. And learn to slow down and read. No insults until now...You certainly have it coming....

Black, you're cracking me up....Somebody had to cool this down a bit...I'm much older so it's up to me. lol I WISH I would have had the time to find this problem BEFORE I posted...Eh? Sometimes the obvious is not so clear....This really had me stumped...I should have found it earlier

umm....who jumped on that train?
Almost the whole first page is filled with talk about the lugnuts and studs. I was thrown off by his first sentence saying that when he starts the car it happens. And I stuck with motors mounts because of that, yes he said he's changed them, but im sure im not the only one here that has gotten a bad part out of the box. Glad he got it all figured out tho.

Yea, the front lower mount was absolutely gone. We replaced that and made sure it was good and rechecked it a few days later, still good, and my engine is very stable considering all the movement before the swap.

Im still confused as to why one bad lug could cause the issue. its not recommended, but you could have an entire broken stud but if you have 4 others the car is still ok. again not recommended but 4 lugs properly tq'd down will hold the wheel tight. also the studs should not move. if you are talking about the rotor being loose where it can let the studs move inside it that is fine... but the studs should be secured in the hub.

glad to hear that the problem is gone. i think we have one of the most accepting groups on any GP forum. we can only help you as much as you help us with symptoms... your description pointed us in the direction we took. Please dont get mad at members who have helped us in the past cause you disagree with their answer.

Agreed and I thank everyone for their suggestions. I just did not agree with the tone of a few messages......Not cool..I am one that believes no question is a dumb question and everyone on this forum deserves the proper respect.
