crap head gasket leak

Daughters car, she called me and told me it got alittle hot a few times on the way to work, She added water and got home. I looked and when motor was cool could not find any leakes from hoses, water pump etc. The water that was in the radiatior looked brown and alot of sticky brown crap was around neck to fill,

I drained the radiator, and put in a flush and filled with water, ran up to temp with a new cap and let set overnight.
Well this am was going to warm it up and drain the flush out, started the car, and noticed a drip when it got warm. Could not see anything from the top, or infrount of the tire. When I crawled behind the tire and looked up it was leaking right on the corner of the head in front. Now that I think about it I had to replace that motor mount right under it as it was rotted out, and the brown crap could of been a head gasket repair.

decent size leak. I dont see any evedence of water in the oil. Car is setting with the flush in it.

Your ideas would be welcome

Jeff

pressure test the cooling system. this will force it to leak and make it easier to find.

id be thinking coolant elbow is leaking maybe.

Cleaned it up and not sure if its the corner of the head gasket or the gasket behind the tension pully. If your behind the tire looking up above the strut at the motor, the corner of the head right under that there is what lookes like a part of the belt tensior does that have a gasket that could leak?

Agreed with above comments. If the car hasn't had the updated Aluminum LIM gaskets done I would suggest doing it all at once. Headgaskets going bad on these motors are extremely rare.

Thermostate, Man I tell you I pulled the Thermostat and what a pain that was, I am wondering I live in florida do I have to put one back in?

You don't have to put one back in, though there's no reason to leave it out. It'll make it take much longer to get to operating temperature.

Well after the flush it didnt seem to leak but man I tell you I filled burped filled burped filled heat was hot she drove it and it got hot again. I went to get it this morning and put a half a gallon to top it off, drove it 8-9 miles stayed at a quarter . let it set running at home got up to 210 fans came on went down went back up to 210 and down when fans came on. So I am going to try to put a Bars leak in and filler up again... Oh no noticable leak anyware
