Cranks But Won't Start.



If u have a parts car right there...I would take the harness(the one from the cps) off the parts car and put it on your car as it would at least eliminate that as the cause of no fire. A betting man would put money on the problem being related to the cps wire harness as it started after working on that area.
 
I have kind of stopped working on this car for awhile. Just went to start it a couple weeks ago and it started right up. Then, started fine a couple days later. Then maybe a week ago, it wouldn't start at all. Nothing. Tested for spark and it seemed like it was getting spark at all. Switched the ICM out and still no spark. So I let it sit a week. Went to start it on Saturday, and it started just fine. Drove it around a little and shut it off and restarted it about 3 times and it started right up. Anyone have any ideas why it would be so random?

I've check the ground on the ICM, and battery terminals are clear of corrosion.
 
maybe its defective? but thats what they do, start up work fine then stall and wont restart till you randomly try it a few days later. then it fires up.

checked for fuel pressure?
 


I haven't check with a guage. Just pressed on it to make sure gas was getting to the engine. Is it common for them to be defective? Once I installed it, it started right up perfectly. Then didn't run a few days later.
 
get a pressure gauge on the rail, see what thats at. fuel pumps have been know to be flaky too, work, then dont work. beating on the bottom of the gas tank can bring them back to life sometimes.

also try starting fluid or carb cleaner in the intake if it fires up you got no gas.
