Couple Problems

I am fairly new to 3800s and grand prixs in general. I bought a gtp in august with 170k and is still running like a champ. But i've noticed a few things and have a few questions. The car does get hot at times around 210 or so in the city. I figure i'd follow through with the flush and replace with green coolant. Is there any problem with doing this? And my passenger window dosent go up sometimes. It takes a while for it to go up, like it has to charge. Is the motor going bad or is it something else? Any other problems i should know about or watch out for? Any help is appreciated! Thanks

The green stuff debate has never been resolved. You can safely switch to green stuff as long as your dexcool is properly flushed, but it sounds more like your thermostat is going bad then a fluid issue. I'm saying that being pro dexcool myself, but its up to the owner.

The window could be a switch, relay or the motor. Replace them one at a time starting with the least expensive which should be the relay, switch then motor.

One thing I would suggest if you haven't done it yet would be a supercharger oil flush just to keep things moving.

Ok, thanks for the info. I will replace the thermostat first and if that dosent work, i'll try a whole coolant flush. Also, from reading the "safely modding your 3800 powered car", whats an estimate time for changing lower intake manifold gaskets? I was told i might have to replace them by another gtp owner.

Thanks

Sounds like your cooling system is working just fine. The low speed fan comes on at 218F and the high speed comes on at 228F. In traffic, you have no airflow until the fan turns on. Go with the "Anycolor" version of coolant and you are in the no worry zone.

On the window, sounds like your regulator needs to be lubed up. Pull the door panel and check to see if it's full of dry thick grease. Clean and apply some white lithium to it.
