Couple Life-Expectancy...?

I m curious what the life expectancy is on one... I ordered one from intense a couple months ago. Got the coupler, fluid and gasket kit from them and replaced it promptly as it was a bag of marbles and didnt sound pleasant at all... dealership was going to replace the whole supercharger and jack up the price a grand afterwards... i was like no no no its a $50 part and i can fix it... leave the SC alone! :th_nanana:

now after about 5000 miles, 4-5 months, its rattling again... not bad.. but with the hood up its noticable and its concerning me. Ill admit... weve done a couple playtime track runs, and ive raced her a few times on the streets *DO NOT MONKEY SEE, MOKEY DO ME!!! ---- ITS ILLEGAL AND IM A BAD KID* but i won :P :th_peaceout:

Is this normal with some mild abuse or did i get a crappy coupler from intense or just some freak of nature evil growly sc that gobbles up the green couplers like sour patch candy? :th_biggrin2:

i got my coupler from intense. 10,000 beater miles on it and its still fine. I think you just got a bad one from a bad batch or something

might be one of the pulleys --- take the belts off and spin them to see if any have shot bearings. I'd find it hard to believe the coupler went bad that fast.

the couplers (especially the aftermarket poly ones) last quite a while. hell, id give them 50k+ miles.

I pulled the belt off and theres some slight play, but it spins easily... i dunno... i guess ill wait til i take it off to change the LIM gasket and give it a real thorough checkup

maybe the bearings in the supercharger. thats y i had mine rebuilt. been on with new everything and 3.4 pulley for 4 months and no prob.

^what he said. If you change bearings your self be sure to measure the distance from the end of the shaft to the end of the housing. If you want a good quality rebuild with a warranty, try Stiegemeier 636-949-2275 or www.Stiegemeier.com. they have a quick turnaround and a one year warranty.
