i literally have the same mods as you listed and car runs like a beast...of course i have 60#injectors, intercooler and e85 with a in car tune. im on a 3.1. i dropped down to a 2.9 than i got alot of belt slippage so i threw the 3.1 back on. youre definitely on the right path

So I thought that a N* TB was an upgrade required as a supporting mod for other things, like bigger cams and bigger injectors etc. Further, I thought that if you didn't have things like cams etc, you wouldn't gain anything by using a N*.

But if I read this right, it sounds like anyone can gain quicker throttle response by switching to a N*, even if you don't have a lot of mods. Not more power, just quicker response, is that right? Is it really noticable?

I eventually want to get to a 3.4 myself. I'm stock now though.

Haven't some people used an LT1 TB as well?

it all goes down to the physics of an internal combustion engine. a bigger throttle body will allow more air in, so you can burn more fuel and pump more exhaust out. I've since gone back to a stock L67 throttle body and don't plan on using the north star throttle body again. I had a lot of issues with the throttle position sensor making the transmission do funny things like down shifting to second gear while pulling up a steep hill and the car revving to 6000 rpm. when people switch to an LT1 throttle body it's because they are switching to a turbo.

there are a lot of people making 325+ hp on a stock L67 throttle body. you don't need a north star for the higher hp builds, and don't need bigger injectors until you drop to a pulley smaller than 3.1 on an L67 car or smaller than 3.4 on an L32 car.

Ok, I didn't know when or why people switched over to them, or what all you need to do it. I've just seen it a bunch in peoples sigs.

Are the problems you ran into something that can be tuned out? I suppose you tried that, but just asking. If you gain throttle response i can get them at a pull a part junk yard not far from me for pretty cheap. Not sure what to do about that adapter plate though, that takes the cheap out of it lol.

So even though it isn't necessary for fuel air delivery, you do or don't gain quicker throttle response, despite some annoying issues that may or may not be tuned out? Sorry to beat a dead horse, just learning.
 
there is no way that I know of to tune out the problems. you would also need a different mass air flow sensor, most people use an LQ4 because it's the biggest that gm ever made, and with that you would have to have some custom tuning. it's really more work than it's worth. the throttle response is noticeably faster.
 
you dont really "need" the n* tb and maf until your up to and over 300 hp. just a waste of money till that point.

you need the tb and maf

adapter plate,

and a canned tune or a tuner to make it work. owning a tuner is best.

WOW, I can't believe the amount of research this seems to be taking!!
So, the way I understand this is: the N*is not needed for a Gen V swap that the oem and mar will be ok? I might be looking at this too deep!! Jim.
 
I needed the N* and maf but either way the throttle response is way better I was surprised and it's bigger. Deffently not a waste of money.
