Ok so cruising through downtown last night, i spot a newer dodge durango with the HEMI going WOT in front of me, and just messing around, we catch the first two red lights, he would gun it on the takeoff both times, I didnt think anything of it, cuz its a damn SUV and didnt look that fast from what i could tell so i wasnt about to race him because i would destroy him or so i thought. I eventually caught up to him and just cruised along in the left lane about two cars behind him.

He rolls down his window and waves at me to get up besides him, so im like ok lets just put this guy in his place and go home. I pull up beside him and he goes " wanna race?' i said "sure lets do it" so then he goes " you cant beat me..its got a HEMI" I just nod at him, im thinking ok whatever dude. We gun it from about a twenty roll, i get about a one foot jump on him and then it was dead even up until 70 or so when he had to brake for traffic, neither one gained an inch. WTF! i realize they have like what? 350 HP? but theire freaking boats!

I have an 05 grand prix comp g, headers, tstat, xp cam, FWI, im still on the stock pulley though. Is my car a freaking turd or are these things really this quick?

ur car isnt tuned? u should be doin a decent sized pulley drop with the mods u have.

Yes, the car is tuned for all the mods it currently has, It runs really strong. I have a 3.2 thats been sitting here waiting to go on but my friend who tunes my car is out of town for another month so it'll have to wait.

The durango being moded has crossed my mind, i dont know what their aftermarket is like and what they have available but looked and sounded pretty stock to me. Surprised the hell out of me.

My mom's durango is pretty quick for what it is, plus is a police interceptor... but I'm sure I could out run it in my car until about 60

I’d say the race conditions definitely favored the SUV. A rolling twenty pretty much negates his mass and aerodynamic short falls. If it started off the line, or at highway speeds you would have definitely took him by a length or two. Regardless, get off the stick man and get that 3.2 on!

3.2 is too small for your setup. I would go 3.4 and see how it runs. Those hemi's are pretty moddable. I know a guy with a 300c and has te hemi. He's got a cam, intake, and tune and he's eeking 12.9x's out of it on 20's with street tires

There is a big modding crowd for these in certain areas. When I lived in AZ there were a few guys running built motors and centrifigual superchargers. If done right those thigs will move out pretty well. If they drop it into 4WD, watch out at the lights!
