No this is not a rant about me getting pulled over to start off with....

Yes I did get pulled over (yes I deserved it). This was a month ago. My proof of insurance was expired in my car (ofcourse). Anyways....

After running all my data im waiting for him to come back with a fat huge ticket.. instead he hands me my info back and says his computer isnt working. He then proceeds to drive off.

Yesterday in the mail I recieved a notice of Default judgment from said stop for not appearing for a court date or paying the ticket for not having my proof of insurance... I was never given a ticket... or any information of who to contact or what court I had to go to... I have an updated proof of insurance its not like I was driving without insurance... So now I have to jump through hoops to try and get this crap reversed WTF!!!!

Nothing new.. we are technically guilty and proven innocent as far as traffic goes.

I sent in a ticket (for turning left on a yellow light, with a bit of charger whine lol) and never heard back. Then got a letter that I failed to appear. Called in and found out they sent the court date to an address in a totally different town etc. Still had to hit court that same week and clear things up. Pain in the butt. Burden of proof is on you.

Handle it nicely and they probably will let you ride w/o any penalty.

Well it is originally a fix it issue anyway. I just have to prove I had insurance. Which if I was given a ticket I would have done the next day. Just sounds like dirty cop work. I dont believe they should be able to issue a ticket after the fact. If im right the other time i was issued a ticket I had to sign acknowledging that I had knowledge of the ticket

update... I called and the ticket was voided! However, I still have to go get a copy of the voided ticket cause most likely the SOS is still going to charge me with a driver responsibility fee that is going to cost $200 a year. And this will get me out of it.. PITA

How many points do you have? Where I live, you only get charged a driver responsibility fee if you have 7 or more points on your license, and it's $150/year. I got hit with it in my younger/dumber days.

Glad to hear the ticket was voided. Still sucks that you have to go in to take care of it, but at least it's being taken care of with minimal resistance from the gummint.

Got pulled over awhile back (in High School) and the cop came back and gave me a written warning.... needless to say a couple months later got a letter in the mail that said I failed to appear in court blah blah blah and in a month my license was going to be suspended

I received a parking ticket for "illegal parking" (BS, nothing said it was illegal there) and they said the officer left a ticket on my window. I got nothing except a letter a month later saying that I failed to appear in court and would soon have a warrant out for my arrest. I called them right away, told them I never got anything and it should be the responsibility of the police to insure that I acknowledge receipt of a ticket. They dropped my fail to appear fee and charged me 20 bucks for illegal parking.

YEah here if you cant prove you have insurance when stopped you have 20 days to show the court your proof of insurance. Which it said I didnt. I was about to hire some lawyers lol

i just recived a letter that said my licnence is going to be suspended for 4mos in 21 days for a speeding ticket i got on new years that is my first ticket in a year and a half its bs

How many in the past 4 years though? I believe thats how long points stay. Plus how many points total? and have you taken care of all your tickets as thats imparative!

points only stay on your lisence for a year. i get a ticket every year, usually at the max points allowance (4 points).

HMmm could be different from states then? Michigan they are alot longer but you can get i think 12 before your suspended.

12 points here too. a lot of states don't even have points systems and just have higher fines. i wish.

We have both... And points effect insurance as we all know... How crappy luckily to this day ive gotten out of all my points and just recieved butt raping fines

Yeah just depends on the state.
Alaska it's 2-10pts per ticket, cant have more than 12pts in a year, or 18pts in two years. Each ticket(pointwise) drops off after two years.

yes all previous tickets have been payed and the ticket i got was only 3 points

Now thats interesting I would check to see how many points were on your license that is most likely the factor that is in play then

Points accrue. You only lose so many points a year, I beleive its 2 a year. So if you get a 3 point ticket it will take two years to be point free, as long as you don't get any more tickets.
