Cooling the engine

So I just finished installing hids in my 03 grand prix gt, I love them. The car was idling for 5-10 min maybe, and then I drove it around for 5 minutes, and it seems like the engine gets a lot hotter faster than it normally did. Which is understandable since those hids are pretty powerful. Is it normal to do it every time though? What happens when I drive for an hour, is my engine going to start over heating? Or do they just heat up very quickly and then the temperature levels off and stays steady after a little bit? I have 6000K hids.
 


Changing the headlight bulbs shouldnt have anything to do with how hot the engine coolant gets.

If the temp never goes above the normal level on the dash, then nothing in my eyes is wrong.
 
What FFDP said. Your engine temps have nothing to do with the headlight bulbs. Either it's something that was happening that you didn't notice before, or it's coincidentally timing. Either way, something else is the culprit in the cooling system itself.
 
This reminds me of my sister's ex telling me braking hard helped warm up his engine faster in the winter. I was speechless for a while ...
 
To be fair, a big draw on the alternator could warm things up a bit quicker, right? But won't make anything overheat.
