Cooling issue help

2002 GTP so about a month ago I rebled the cooling system because I knew I had a air pocket in it and everything was good. Now when I am at WOT the temp climbs and when I'm off the gas it stays where it climbed to and slowly drops until I get back in the gas a little bit it also when at a light will slowly climb but once I'm going it drops down.

The water pump is brand new less than four months old thermostat is about a year old no leaks no coolant in the oil.

I'm going to bleed it again to rule out a air pocket. I'm also gonna check the radiator as best I can hopefully its not that because it doesn't look like a good time to replace it.

Any feedback is great feedback and appreciated thank you in advance.

sounds like a partially clogged radiator or a weak thermostat thats sticking closed at times, but i'd say radiator

I was thinking that too. Do you think flushing it would help? What thermostat should I run its got a 180 in it now

you could get the radiator recored but flushing may not help, with the cheap prices now-a-days it just be better to get a new one. As far as what t-stat I's just get one from Intense racing or ZZP

Right on how difficult is it to replace the radiator on these from the looks of it I'm thinking its not to easy

it really isn't that bad, I'm in the final stages od mounting up the ZZP oversized all aluminum radiator in the race car. Take the dog bones and mounts out, undo the rad hoses, unbolt the cooling fans, disconnect the trans cooler lines and unplug the coolant level sensor on the passanger side and should be able to pull it out easy

How do you recommend supporting the motor with the mounts off? That really doesn't seem that bad

just let the motor rock back and will give you much more clearance between the exhaust manifolds and cooling fans/radiator

no, not enough room. You'll have to unbolt the fan assembly from the radiator or you'll be fighting getting it past the exhaust manifolds

I'm not gonna fight with those lol. Thanks for all the info tho I'm gonna try draining all the coolant out to see what it looks like and if it's nasty the rad comes out

It is perfectly normal, and logical for the temp to rise during WOT, prolong periods of idle, or operation during hotter days with higher loads and accessories operating. Power is heat, and anytime you make more power you create more heat. As long as the cooling system is full and has no air in it, maintains pressure (no coolant loss), and airflow through the radiator is maintained, and the temp gauge not indicating in the red, your fine.

I dont mean to insult you but your not low on coolant are you? Does sound like rad is clogged some a good flush might help. You didn't by chance mix the dexcrap with green coolant did u.

System is full switched to the green. I'm going to bleed it again if that isn't it im gonna flush it and if that doesn't fix it I'm gonna pull the rad
