cooling fan issues

My 02 gt will only turn on the fans when the temp reaches over 230. and then will only turn on the fans on high, they will not turn on at any other temp, or speed. i disconnected the temp sensor below the thermostat and the fans come on, on high as per the default safety setting. and they will come on with the a/c if it is turned on. read somewhere that there is a coolant temp sensor and a coolant temp switch. but i am unable to find any info on the coolant temp switch. and i am looking for ideas that might be wrong with the car.

thanks

i have replaced thermostat, radiator, and the 2 plastic coolant lines that go from the water pump to the block. the reason it gets so hot, is fans don't come on at all. unless too hot.

you solved your own problem, where did you unplug the wire to make the fans come on? there's your problem. seriously replace the coolant temp switch man, lol, jimmy
