Coolant Swap

I guess simple thought process is out to lunch if its green in the tank more then likely some one switched it to standard coolant

But that being said id flush till it was clear any way

There have been many class action lawsuits against DEXCOOL in GM vehicles and I Have never had any issues with oldschool green coolant

That being said the coolant and cooling system is one of the most over looked systems in the car
 


Alright guys thank you for the information. One last question hah: Is there any kind of plug on the engine to get all the coolant out of the block or is removing the knock sensor the best that can be done?
 
just do the front knock sensor, the back one is harder to get at.

and it look like this, but that one is from the back of the motor, it will look the same on the front, but way easy to get at, just pop the conecter off and un bolt it.

ps, the fluid is gunna be hot if the motor was just running, maybe wear gloves.

Yours, on the front (left side of the engine) won't have the guard around it, to my knowledge, though. The one you're looking for is directly behind the starter.
 
IMO it's much easier to cut a hose than to jack the car up crawl under there and try an get that knock sensor out then have to reseal and put it back in... Plus IMO you get a better flush cause you can do several cycles by simply turning the hose off instead of uninstalling and reinstalling the knock sensor or lower rad hose every cycle...
 


Ok one final question (I think): As I was about to work on my car today I found out that the place I am supposed to jack the car is way to rusted and I can't jack the car up from there. My question is: What is the best place to jack up the car in this situation
 
I've been putting the jack in right in front of the passenger side tire and to the front corner of the cradle, too. Throw a jack stand on the back side of the cradle from the rear of the passenger side tire and that will give you gobs of room to do whatever you need to do. I removed the front air dam (it's been off for about 5 weeks, now) so I have access to the lower radiator hose and left side of the engine.

With the jack in that spot, you'll be able to leave it in place while you're draining off your coolant. I drop it down, too, once the radiator is near empty and can get a few more cups out. A kitty litter pan is about the right size if you don't have anything bigger to drain into.
