Coolant Mishap/Need Help

Pontiac Grand Prix 3800 series 3. Daughter's car. She recently had her cooling system flushed and Valvoline Max-life was put in. I pulled the lower radiator hose and drained what I could (where is the radiator drain plug?), to change her water-pump. After pump was changed, I mistakenly filled system with full-strength Havoline Dexcool. It took about 7 quarts. What should I do? Should I take it back where the flush and fill was done, and have them do it again? The two things that concern me are the mixing of the two different coolants, even if they are compatible (not sure), and the concentration of what's in there now. Thanks for any advice you can give me.

You added/drained probably a little over a gallon, maybe two? Being that the rest is 50/50 you should be ok, but it's best to drain off about a half to 3/4 of a gallon and refill with water.

Likely the two are fully compatible and won't cause any issues for you.

The drain plug is on the bottom drivers side of the radiator. It is a tough little valve to get at.

I did my dexcool removal a few weeks ago. I draind then flushed with water for several minutes. Refilled with water and preston super flush and ran it for a day. Then drained and flushed again. Did this 3 times.

I then used 1 gallon of 100% green antifreeze since there was water in the block that would blend with the straight antifreeze. The rest was filled with 50/50 green.

Thanks for the info. and advice. Yes, exactly 4 quarts drained before pump change. It took 7 quarts to fill radiator and overflow reservoir to cold mark. I just have to decide just as you stated, whether to drain a little, add water, and live with it. Or, if I do decide to flush it all out, I think I will go with the green. Thanks again.
