Coolant leaks

Re: Halp me

the water pump leaks on the out side of the engine, under and behind the water pump pulley. you have a weep hole that the coolant leaks from.

Well the water pump must be leaking now. Car running about 230 on the car thermostat, and fluid under the right side of the engine everywhere I go

Re: Halp me

That's bad news, Fix it immediately.

My car ran up to 230, cooled down to 200, then ran back up to 240 and shut down due to a water pump failing with NO prior warning.. It only takes one time to blow a head gasket.

Re: Halp me

its a easy swap, first thing you do is break the 4 bolts loose on the water pump pulley, while the belt is still on, then take the belt off. you need to take the 2 bolts off for the p/s pump, you get the bolts threw the pulley hole, this is so you can get the long bolts off the water pump. you can take the alt off to for a better view.

then remove the bolts from the water pump, clean the the pump gasket surface, used a razor blade to scrap the old gasket off if need be, but make sure its clean, nothing on it but metal.

the 4 long bolts, clean them up and apply thread sealant on the threads. these 4 long bolts go right through the block into the water jacket of the engine, left with out sealant and they could leak. when you take them out water will leak from their holes. bolt it all back together and your done.

heres a pic of mine off. im s/c but the pump is the same, note the p/s pump is low to the side there.

Re: Halp me

no idea, never heard of it before now lol

the stuff i posted cost about 5 bucks. and you'll need it if you ever do you lim gaskets, so its good to have on hand.

Alright Scottydoggs, I got the old water pump off, it's down to bare metal.

That loctite stuff you posted a picture of, can I use that on both the threads of the bolts, and the gasket of the new water pump?

So i figure the High Temp RTV silicone gasket maker for the gasket obviously, and the loctite scotty mentioned for the threads, sound good?
