Coolant Leak, Not LIM

Ok so im becoming very frustrated. After changing the lim, and waterpump, along with various other random things, youd think id be leak free for the most part. Nope. Getting big piles of coolant seemingly randomly.

I spy coolant on the power steering cap. I was almost certain it was the waterpump, but apparently not because its still happening even after that has been changed. Any ideas?

No idea about the bolt. And i dont think any hoses are leaking...

But to add, it only happens every once in a while. When it does, itll just be like a pint of coolant on the ground.

Among the "various other random things" did you replace the 2 90* elbows? I'd imagine you would have while doing the LIM, but if not... could be.

Is there a chance its leaking out at the over-flow container? or is it wet on the motor?

The level sensor in the container has a rubber grommet that could have worn out and be leaking, or a crack causing a drip. Worth a check just to rule it out.

im with the heater core hoses where they mount at the alt bracket, take a paper towel, and test for wetness when the car is good and hot. because thats when hoses leak most often, when under pressure.

if thats dry. id drop some dye in the rad and then hunt for the source.

I went through 3 sets of elbows in 2 months. They would work for a while then leak a bit, stop then start again. Sometimes the coolant would just burn on the motor and I never saw it hit the ground, other times it would leave little puddles. Come to find out it was me doing a poor install job regarding the elbows. take your finger and rub all over both elbows to see if they are wet. Finally I used 2000 grit sandpaper and cleaned the holes the elbows go into the best I could then I rubbed a little 3in1 oil in the holes before I reinstalled them so the oring would not shift. Never leaked again.

Same issue as dbextreme here. My final solution was ponying up for the stock ones from the dealer and RTV silicone. No leaks since. Those elbows can be a frustrating pain in the a$$.

you can check the heater hoses off the back of the alt bracket, thats where the coolant flows to via them dumb elbows.

a soggy hose end will leak, seen it first hand. some times you can cut the hose a bit shorter and put it back on. if its all swollen at the end.
