Coolant Elbow Replacement on a 99-00 GTP?

It been awhile since I really tore apart the top half of the motor. I want to replace BOTH coolant elbow on my 99 GTP, and on my GFs 00 GTP (one of hers is leaking I think). How do I remove that piece that has both elbows attached to it? I know you have to removed it anyway to get access to the rear valve cover. How many bolts are there? Its been so long I can't honestly remember. I put rockers in the 1999 over 5 years ago...

If you pull the alternator and that alternator bracket you will be able to replace both of them. Autozone carries them in the Help section if you need to get a set. As for the number of bolts, I dont remember exactly. I think it was three for the alternator and three for the bracket? I believe both were 15mm.

I believe Scotty is spot on. Just watch the bolts when you remove them, iirc a couple are not the same length as the others.

The alternator has 3 different length bolts holding it on, keep track which goes here because if you put a longer one where it isn't supposed to go, you'll send a bolt through the rear valve cover.

As for the bracket, there are 2 visible bolts and one that's hard to see that's closer towards the power steering pulley. Those 3 are the same length though.

As far as replacing the elbows, just pull them out of the alternator bracket....be sure to get them out completely because I have seen some leave a broken piece of plastic inside the bracket. Clean out the holes and install the new elbows with a little grease on the rubber o-rings, it helps them slide in easier. ;)

I get the elbows at Pep Boy's help section......they sell them for $4 for both while the dealer chargers over double that.

drain coolant first.....then when you get alternator off, remove 3 bolts..and just simply wiggle and pull bracket away.....should just come right out.

if at all possible take some pics....and make a "how to"

Wish I had a camera, I would of done a How-To. I have one more chance when I do my 99 in a month or 2. Today I did my GFs 00. I honestly wish I didn't ask, As soon as I got the Alt off I figured it out instantly. Just 3 bolts equal length holding the bracket on. Took about 30 mins to do counting flushing + refilling the system...
