I have a 1996 GP in red under consideration for purchase for my son who is graduating HS. Asking price is $1600. Car looks good in pictures. Have not gone out to look at it yet but it is in the process. With that said, are there GP specific common issues to look out for? It has the 3.1 motor. AC has a leak, so the seller states. Thank you.

the 3100 is kind of a turd. head gaskets fail, lim gaskets too. find a new model with a 3800. 97 up. gp's are na, GTP's are supercharged.

A clean west coast car almost makes it worth it to look further into. All those cars around here are rusted away already.
It's going to have mid 90's issues, if it has the 3100 they can have problems but it's something to ask about and see if any work has been done to the motor. Otherwise with leaky gaskets fixed and such, they are good running motors.
