Computer Upgrade!!!

hi, I have an 06 Grand Prix, s/c. and I was wondering how I might be able to take off some settings in the computer. first one would be the rev. limiter while in park, i can only get about 3500-4000 RPM's in park. second would be the total speed, my chip kicks in at 125mph at about 3000 rpm's, i'd like to maxamize my top speed in this beast. please post what i need, price it would cost, and where to get it.

First off, your stock.

Absolutely no point what so ever in spending the money to get your PCM redone until you've actually got some mods that need it.

Whats the point in going up to, and especially over, 3500-4000 RPM when your in 'Park'?
 
Woah! Why rev in park??!??! Thats not a great idea. Pop it in neutral!

You want to go faster than 125MPH? Hmmm not to smart if you ask me. Not safe. I would upgrade at leaste the tires on your car to tires that are made for high speed. Suspension would not be a bad idea eather.

Get you intake and exhaust going b4 anything.
 
i have cold air intake on it...and i take my car to the track and it sounds great with the intake on my supercharger, she wistles and wines hard. i guess for "intemidation??" hard to find some mods for this generation of GP's. only exhaust i can find is mufflers :\ i was the whole catback...and my tires....LMAO, low-pros, so yeah my tires are defeinatly unsafe!!!
 
pretty much all the motor mods for the 97-03gtp will work for the 04+

and you dont really need the whole cat back exhaust. all it does is change the sound and you can do that with mufflers. it gives you no performance. if you want performance get headers or a ported manifold and a down pipe.
 
and it wines cause that is the sound the supercharger makes. not nesicerily for intemidation but it does work to that extent
 


Wouldn't hurt to do a little brake upgrade either for the higher speeds. Some good cross drilled and slutted rotors and some good pads.
 


i just checked out overkills site...sry im new to the GP but i love this freakin car...wanna do as much as i can wid it. i might just keep my 06 and purchase an 03 GP and work on that, the bodystyle is much slim and smoother looking, i'd prefer it on a dragstrip.
 
You can go as far as mods will take you as long as you want to spend the $$$. You say what you want, and there's many that can help you find it.
 
if you get pacesetters they are a little tight to get on. might have to do some modifications. i gotta get some off set motor mounts then flip them around backwards to get the clearence i need. (they hit up against the radiator fans)
 


See if you can find you a good scanner to that will check fo knock retard. Too much of that will hurt you. Then when you do a mod you can scan. Sounds like a good plan though. Headers, down pipe, and some good mufflers.
 
well i have the appearnce of my car, sounds and prefection. i took some more recent modd'd outside pics of my car today but cant find cable hookup to plug into the computer, i have the look i want. (except a hood scoop for my model) just need to let this 3800 make some noise! yeah downpipe, headers and exhaust, what about $1,000 ?
 
pacesetters come with a down pipe. idk about the other ones. there 360 or about that. then you can just get some mufflers for the sound. 100-200 bucks depending on witch ones you get. pacesetters are a little tricky to get them to seal tho. it might be worth the extra money to get some better ones so you dont have the head achs
