Comp Rocker Bolts

I've read here and there that the re-useable Comp Cams rocker bolts are just run-of-the-mill grade 8 socket head cap screws. Is there any truth to this?

Also read that the comp bolts have a tendency to break, even using the correct torque specifications. Am I better off getting OEM replacement TTY?

100% true. IIRC the ones I got with my rockers were Holo-Krome.

I don't understand how guys are breaking these things. As I die maker, I tightened thousands of those 5/16" SHCS's and never broke one. I've snapped a few 1/4" Allen wrenches, but never a screw. The only thing I can figure is, they are bottoming out in some applications. If that's the case, I would consider that user error, not part failure.

Ive got them on my gtp and se, never had an issue. I've also had them on and off a few times in both cars, I bet they've iether fixed an issue with them a while back, or it was operator error causing failures. Had mine for about 3 years.
