Comp cams 5/16" rocker bolts

Why are the reusable rocker arm bolts smaller then the stock TTY bolts? 5/16" vs 3/8"
I have a 1/2" torque wrench so I got a adapter to go from 1/2" to 3/8" socket size, bought a SAE 7pc 3/8" socket set that has 3/8" as the smallest socket, then after discovered the comp cams are too small for that new socket set I just bought :(

I think I used a 10mm socket on the stock TTY 3/8" bolts to get them off, it worked so what if I just use a 9mm socket for these comp cams?
I end up using two socket adapters to make use of the 1/2" torque wrench to get them torqued right. Hopefully that 3/8" to 1/4" adapter does not snap on me when I torque to 25 ft LBs

frankenstein might be the right term for what I am proposing

comps don't use a socket.

they use a male hex deal

and there was a massive thread on this: extensions theoretically do not reduce torque because the torque isn't acting in the direction of the extension.

second trip to the hardware store today, they didn't have any hex 5/16th, so they order me one that should come in today hopefully

the 5/16th hex socket that I need to torque the comp cam bolts with

I have it now, the store had it delivered from Edmonton to the small town I live in, saved me from going to Edmonton

I thought that sounded wrong so i dug out my spare set of those bolts.

its 1/4 hex drive socket.

5/16 is too big.

Damn man if you were closer i would lend you my 1/4 hex lol.I test fitted it to the comp cam rocker bolt just to make sure i dont have any snags.

To end this mayhem I got a 162 pc socket set for $50 that was 70% off at Canadian Tire, it has various sized hex bits. Including of course the 1/4" that I needed. I did look in the display case to see if I could just get the 1/4" by itself but did not see it. Now I have lots of duplicate pieces but what can you do right? whatever
