Cold Transmission = No Go

Hi, I bought a 97 GT with 156K on it this summer. The transmission was perfect until the weather began to cool. Now, almost every morning and sometimes even when I go to leave work in the afternoon it does not want to go.
Put it in reverse and it just sits there. It won't move in the forward gears, either. Usually, running it through the gears a few times will 'wake it up', but sometimes it has to run for a few minutes before it will move.
If I drive in 'D', it will sometimes flare when taking off from a stop or turn a corner. When stopping, it is late downshifting to 1st. When I come to a complete stop, there is about a 2 second delay and then it 'bumps' as it makes the final downshift.
If I drive in '3', it doesn't bump or flare. After a few miles, when it has warmed up some, everything is fine in 'D' and the car will be OK until it sits for several hours in less than 70 degree weather.
I changed the filter. Pan looked pretty clean. Fluid is at the max level when hot. Added some Lucas, but no change. No DTCs.
I had to put a new (Chinese) radiator in 2 months ago, any chance the cooler circuit could be restricted?
Is the tranny on its way out? If it is, how long do I have before it bites the big one? Or should I move to a warmer climate?
Any help will be greatly appreciated!
David

LOL, the warmer climate gets my vote. I'm thinking this is a seal issue, once it warms up, the seal makes contact and begins working.

Bill, that sounds like a good theory.
OTH, this car lived in Florida most of its life, maybe it just doesn't like the cold...

Cold transmission system is a very high cost upgrade for your car and also very fuel consuming. You should prefer for other upgrades available for your car as performance upgrades.
