Cold problems

First thing you need to do is take the battery out and have it charged up. Without a good strong charge in cold weather, it will be hard to start. Batteries can also freeze, I've had it happen, and you are better off bringing the battery indoors, if the car has to sit outside in these temps.

Second, the car will not start unless the battery is fully charged.

Also, what kind of weight oil are you using? 5W-30 or at least the 10W the is recommended? Oil becomes very thick in these temps too.

My battery is good that was the other guy but I want to get my hood figured out before i go back to school and hopefully before i have a problem. Thank you guys for your help though I really appreciate it.

I have read what you tried. Have you also tried having someone push down on the hood, lightly of course but with enough pressure, while you pull the cable lever inside the car?
 
Ya i did and i also adjusted the hood adjuster knobs so it would open easier. the handle wont even move unless ive been driving for a long time
 


Napa sells a antifreeze heater. I had to buy that and a new lower radiator hose. What ya do is cut the hose in half add in the heater. And BAM warm car faster. Also helps the car stay warm.

Its gonna be -40 windchill..:th_shakinghead2::eek:
 
ya that is a great idea when im at home but im not able to plug in my car without like 1/4 mile of extension cords soooo yep that wont work. ive thought about putting one in my truck at home though. how much do they normally cost like 20 $??
 
A better fix for this than silicone spray or lithium is dry graphite comes in a can and works awesome for lubing parts in the extreme cold. I use it on my gps hinges and latches to make sure they work in the -1 to - 45 degree weather. Gotta love being a military mechanic who has access to new products to test :)

Thats new in Canada EH? Its been in the US forever.
 
its been in canada for a while as well...

graphite comes in cans and in powder form.

white lithium grease is the correct lubricant for your hinges/latches.

wasn't saying that graphite was new to canada was just mentioning that we do get to try new and improved products apparently and the dry graphite was a new product blend according to the sales rep worked real well
 
new blend sure but dry graphite IS old news. Just carbon sheets, they slide on each other.

Granted the structure is fairly consistent.
 
I just hope that this problem of mine went away. Ill have to check tonight I actually forgot that it was a problem until I red this
