Cold air intake

K&N

Is anyone having any problems with K&N filters I'm looking to buy one and wondering about the reviews online about dust and low end rpm problems if that's true or not

Re: K&N

nothing of that source is true..and also, you will hear of problems with oiled filters (K&N) messing up MAF sensors...this is only true to an extent...

when people clean and re-oil their filters, they tend to use wayyyyy too much oil and that excess that is not soaked into the pleats of the filter is sucked into the intake tract and coats the MAF sensor..

Do not be scared of them. I have ran a K&N for the past 3 years

Re: K&N

Alright thanks for the help cause I had a friend who put a cone filter on his mustang it it turned on all the check engine lights and stuff like that.

They don't filter well until they're dirty.

Then the flow advantage is gone.

Might as well run paper unless you're going all performance on us.

Even then, questionable gains.

Online reviews are crap.

See what real life tells you here.

Nothing intake wise for that kind of money is gonna help your cause.

the only problem I have with my K&N kit is even after 5 years I can still feel the pain of spending way to much money on something I could have done just as good. The time before last I cleaned it,let it dry and oiled it, I must have really been distracted and in a hurry. Months later I was poking around under the hood and noticed my PCM was all gunky looking. I stuck my hand under the filter and got it coated in red oil. I must have way over oiled the darn thing. I mean this filter was still dripping after like 4 months. The good thing is my car never skipped a beat. I immediately took it out and cleaned it, this time oiling it VERY lightly. Also cleaned the MAF and TB at the same time.......K&N whatever, just be careful oiling, dont over do it.
