Cold Air Intake Trouble

Hey, i just had a K&N CAI installed on my 05 gtp and i dont notice the deep loud sound from the new intake that i have on all the intakes on my other cars, its just a much louder whine, which does sound cool but not sure if its is the normal CAI sound of the GTP's due to the supercharger or not. Also i get a tapping sound when driving at around 2500-3000 RPM's, i believe it is also coming from the intake. Any ideas as to whats up?
 


Supercharger whine is normal & desirable....you could check out some vids on youtube to compare. It should be much louder with the CAI.

I don't know of any tapping noise that would come from the intake.
 
yea the whine is nice and does sound similar to the youtube videos, but definitely thought that the deep sound of the intake would be there. And yea the tapping caught me off guard, its not very loud, if i have music on it cant hear it, but it definitely doesnt sound normal
 
You engine will talk through the intake. That tapping has nothing to do with the intake, though. You should check that out. Like... now. Heck, take a video and post it up for us to guess what it is.
 
Toss in some Lucas Stop Tick...if the sound goes away then you have a valvetrain related noise and need to get it checked out.
 
I've also heard people complain about ticking/tapping/vibrating coming from a new intake, and it turned out to be a leak.

Try tightening down your clamps, they may have come loose, that fixed the problem for the other 2 threads I've seen with that issue.
 


took it by my mechanic and he said sounds like an exhaust leak, so getting that taken care of tuesday, thanks for the help
 
Update: car just spent the day at the shop, an the mechanic found the noise is a normal engine noise magnified by the intake... Yay a nice crappy noise lol
