Cold Air Intake Problems.... HELP???

I recently just bought a cheap air intake kit from ebay.:th_lipssealed2: I was going to make one like ive seen on here with the pvc pipe but i figured buying a cheap ebay one with stainless tubing would just look nice. Every intake i see for the gp goes right to where the stock air box is located and thats where the filter sits. But the stock box holds the PCM???? Where do you put the PCM when you pull out the box? It makes no sense to me. I dont want to let the PCM sit there and be exposed like that? Any suggestions ideas or is there just something i overlooked? Thanks!:D

The PCM tray is from a blazer/S-10. They use the same physical PCM, and it sits out in the open. The tray only gives you a way of securing/mounting the PCM but doesn't "protect" it.

For a while, I had mine zip tied to that "shelf" in that area. Worked fine. Now it sits in the bottom of my WizAired box.

The WizAired uses hooks and a bungy to secure it. Works pretty well, since it's inside the box. Plus, the wire harness is stiff so its not going anywhere. Here's a pic:

Here's the PCM tray. You have to drill some holes for it in your car since it wasn't made to fit where our PCM is.

I bought a cheap air intake from ebay too so when putting it in it was harder when people say because i ran into the same problem only i KEPT half the stock air box in so it still holds the PCM plus you get that "ram air" effect because of that half of the air box has the "hole" or whatever that is called coming out of the box but most important its holding my PCM (some cutting had to be done)

Mine just sits there. I don't have anything holding it. Been like that for over a year and no problems.

Like someone said, the wiring is stiff and holds it just fine.

Any pics of this setup?

Yea pictures would be great. Except when i mock up the kit it looks like it will be sitting DIRECTLY in the middle of where the box is now. Also any more info or pictures on the s10 mod would be cool too that sounded pretty much what i was talking about. Kind of off topic but Sabrewings i noticed you HID setup. Do you have single beam or modified tele bulbs? Just another thing im looking at doing soon thought maybe you could shed some light on it. (haha)

Impalas have separate 9006 bulbs for lows and 9007 for highs. I just replaced the lows. :)

i got the k&n air intake. the kit came with a bracket where the pcm bolts onto that. it sits underneath the air intake.

If the intake you use doesn't have a provision for the PCM, just use the PCM tray. Best way to go. A drill and a couple self tapping screws and you should be done.

yea i just have mine zipped tied right now since i have a 97 and the overflow is right there i just stood the PCM up and zipped it to the overflow works out great, until i i get the 99 overflow to relocate i t

They say that the tray from zzp wont fit unless you move the overflow but i took a quick look at mine today and my cooland overflow is right there but it goesnt look like it is in the way at all idk if maybe i can make it work because i found a zzp tray on ebay for 25 bucks and 10 for shipping and the new one alone is 49 without shipping. I also found one at wbodystore.com and its a gm part with clips and it seems much more secure but it doesnt state whether or not you need to move coolant bottle. If anyone has any idea or know what im talking about of has more detailed pictures of their zzp tray and how secure it is post please!

trust me it will be in the way, your best bet if you really want to go with a PCM tray is goto a local junkyard and pick up a 99 GP tank and relocate it
