Code PO243

Hey guys/gals. So My GTP has 239000 kms on it and it still runs pretty good. I have had a check engine light on for about a year now but it was a (rear catalytic code) My car would not pass the emissions test last week so I got a new one put on with a one year warranty. I did pass the test right after I got it put on and the check engine light was off. Which was nice because now I can use my remote car starter. Stupid GM put a blocker that doesn't allow it to work with a light on. I was so looking forward to this with a cold Canadian winter coming soon. Now, that was yesterday. Today as I was driving around my light came on again. I brought it back to the guy pissed off thinking it was my CAT. Turns out it's a code PO243 Supercharger Wastegate Regulator Valve A. Like, did this part get jealous parts syndrome? Now my question, I already know from Gm the part is going to cost me around 800 dollars. Not fun. Is the car okay to drive? I am debating on just buying something new because I don't want problems to keep happening. Your advice and help would be amazing.

Re: PO243 Help!!!!

I don't know what year your car is, but at 148000 miles things on ANY car are going to need to be replaced. That's what cars are- a wear item. Aside from that, are you building boost still, or does it seem low? Check the vacuum lines going to the BBV and make sure they are on and tight.

And check for that part on RockAuto.com or somewhere. No way would I pay $800 for that (assuming that is US dollars).

Not sure how safe it is to drive it that way, but I'd say as long as you're not always in boost then its fine.

Re: PO243 Help!!!!

I am still getting boost when I give it gas. It shows on the digital display. I will cchecks vacuum lines and hope for the best. 800 was for parts and labour. The part is 525. It's a two piece part

Re: PO243 Help!!!!

Clear the codes and see if it comes back.

Got a picture of the parts?

I checked alldata about the code and really got nothing, no pictures to tell me what it looks like. Maybe its just the supercharger boost solenoid that went, that part is way cheap compared to paying dealer prices on whatever parts your mechanic says you need.

Re: PO243 Help!!!!

I have a print out from the dealership with a picture. I could use my phone to take a picture but I have no clue how to post it on here

Re: PO243 Help!!!!

use a photo sharing website like photobucket or whatever and either just link it here or copy the DIRECT link and paste it to the 3rd one over from the smiley face.

I think it's number 7 and number 8

Re: PO243 Help!!!!

Like I said before, today I drove the car and when I pushed hard I got boost no problem like I did before

Re: PO243 Help!!!!

So maybe instead of trying to clear the codes, I could try unhooking my battery for 30 minutes and see if it resets/corrects itself?
