Code Overload

So I've been fighting with my 99 gtp for a while now, just replaced the tps and tried cleaning the maf sensor because I was pulling up the codes for them. Everything was starting to look up. Then as I'm heading down the interstate suddenly my rpm's jump up to about 5grand, car starts acting like it doesn't know what gear to go into, couldn't get it past third gear, pulled over and it idles at about 2,000 rpm. And these are the codes I got after this occurance P0101 out of range, P0102 signal low, P0121 TP sensor or APP sensor 1, P0730 Incorrect gear, and P1810 trans pressure switch manifold fault. I need it straight, how F'd am I?

well my suggestion is take it somewhere and have a real machine diagnose the problem, not just a code reader. alot of times when 1 sensor goes bad its starts to trigger a bunch of other sensors that r fine 2 set off a code cause they work together. get it checked out my friend, you'd be surprised, its prob something simple and stupid.

thats prob what it is, 1 sensor triggering a bunch of others. or the next thing it could be is the pcm. is your car stock?

Yes it's all stock. Everything started with the Maf sensor, that caused the tps to go out of whack, and it's just gotten more worse as each day goes by.

scratch that..it all happened after my coolant elbows went out and it ran kind of hot. It almost went into the red but I clicked on the heat as soon as i seen the temp jump up and that broght it back down so I don't think a cracked anything, but I'm wondering if i didn't just cook the stank out of it

Those first few codes point to a TPS issue. You mentilon changing it. I'd be checking it.

TPS has a lot to do with idle and trans shifting. Get the first issue worked on and see if the trans clears up.

Haha that sounds like a good old Pontiac:th_laugh-lol1:
We have all had the WTF situation and it usually turns out to be something very simple

Oh my god! found the problem, it was right there in my face and I never noticed it. One of the vacuum line T's for the fuel pressure regulator was cracked. runs like a champ again

check you catalytic converter as crazy as that sounds. i had just about the same problem and i was about to buy a tranny. but it was just a bad cat. good luck

gratz man. im so glad you fixed your car. i knew it was going to be something really dumb and stupid and right in your face:th_thumbsup-wink:!

glad it's done with. For now anyways. I'm still not up to my peak gas mileage like I was. I think I scortched the intake manifold about a month ago when it ran hot. Running like a truck right now, getting about 17.3 miles to the gal
