"clunk" sound on acceleration

Hi guys do you know of a common problem with a clunk sound on acceleration (slow or moderate) ? Can go days without hearing it but always seems worst when its raining or wet outside (lol go figure) I checked A frame bushings and they seem fine?? any ideas ? Its a 2005 GT......thx in advance for any ideas.

also check sway bar links. Took mine to the dealer for a similar issue and some others (i know, i know, but its under warranty so wth) for some other stuff and that's what they told me. If you're getting a clunk from coasting to acceleration, flipping the dogbone bushings will help with that.

my $.02

thx guys i'll have a look at sway bar links......what do u mean by dogbone bushings? is this the "A frame" bushings or the bushing similiar to a hockey puck shape on the main front frame?

This may or may not be, but my '08 made a clunking noise upon acceleration and occasionally on braking. I realized that it was happening on a full tank of gas, one of my straps had loosened slightly and the whole tank would move when it was full.

Have a look, let us know what you find.

So what was the outcome of this issue, I have the exact same issue,, my car is 2005 GTP.. loud clunk or pop when accelerating, and sometimes when going in reverse... mainly on driver side..

same problem with my car I have a 02 gtp and it the torque strut bar bushing!! Aka dog bone!! Mine were messed up so I ordered 2 poly bushings and it helped...

Timmy, thanks,,, I will order mine now,, Well, are these the polymounts, the red looking squares that you are speaking about? thanks again.

yea and when I ordered them I went ahead and got the two round ones that are one the other side of the dog bone!! And make sure that the two arms that run from your rad support 2 where your struts mount under the hood that all bolts are tight in them also!!! Any more questions just let me know

Nice, Im going to order the ones from intence, seems that everyone preferes these as the are not as loud and rough as the ZZP ones. thanks again.. I assume I will need to take these dog bones and supports completly off my car, does the engine need to be supported? or just do one at a time? Thanks again..

common issue with the 04+... its the intermediate steering shaft... the only place you can buy is from the dealer... search intermediate shaft in the forum and read different explanations and see if that sounds like your problem...
