Clunk/Does not hold on a hill

After doing lower trans/motor mounts, I am getting a definite clunk when dropping into reverse and a lesser clunk when putting in drive. It is not an all the time thing, it is however more often then not. Occasionally, it will not hold when on a hill.
Additional info, drivers side cv shaft replaced, idles nicely at about 600 RPM but does not hold, revving to about 800 -900 and she holds on a hill.

Hoping this is something that is not going to have me drive her behind the shed with a shotgun.

Hill is normal. It's an automatic and there is a torque converter to allow slippage. Brakes hold you on hills, not the torque converter.

As for the clunk, it could be an axle, strut mount.. heck even the upper mounts

Thanks Bill!

Both front struts are new, driver side axle is new...here's to 'heck...upper mounts'.
