Clicking Noise

Alright... going from park to reverse, as soon as the wheel starts to spin I hear a metal clicking sound.. passenger side. If I don't touch the gas, and let the car idle back it normally doesn't do it. Going from reverse to drive, it will do it again when the wheels start going forward. This does with with the wheels straight as well. I replaced the CV shaft due to it being shot about 8 months ago... might be that. Any ideas? The sound is like taking a long screwdriver and tapping it on a hard surface (i.e. concrete). It started out faint, now slowly starting to get louder, and tonight I seemed to get some mild/medium shaking on hard acceleration while going down the road. From a stop to 1/2-3/4 throttle it won't shake.

And go!

'05 GP Base... no ABS nor TCS or other bells and whistles.

Could be something wrapped around the axle. My next thought is a tie rod end or even a wheel bearing. You said you replaced the axle. Did you pack the joints with grease?

Well all within the past ~50k miles it has had all new ball joints, hubs, struts, strut mounts, rear brake calipers, rotors, brake pads, passenger CV shaft, and transmission.

I don't think so, plus it would be doing all the time, would it not?

I'ts going on a lift sometime this week... thinking either CV shaft, sway bar, or transmission. Not really leaning towards transmission as it sounds like an exterior sound, not an internal.

I've seen many TSBs on 04+ GPs related to loud clicking / popping noises.
One suggested added a washer to the steering gear-to-frame mounts.
Another suggested it can need a replacement of the inner tie rod end boot on one of the two sides.
